Barker -Somerset, Aug. 20.-One of
the loveliest of late summer weddings
took place at 8 o'clock Saturday
afternoon, August 16th, at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Rhodes
of the Nye road, when their daughter,
Margaret Harriett, was united
in marriage with Lester A. Meland.
The Rev. A. E. Matthews performed
the ceremony.In the presence of some
30 guests. The attendant's were Mr.
and Mrs. Clayton Shelley of Albion,
the latter the bride's sister, and little
Miss Shirley Smith as flower girl.
The bride was lovely In her wedding
gown of white with veil and she
carried a shower bouquet of roses
and valley lilies. Mrs. Shelley wore
pink and carried and pink roses and
the flower girl wore a dainty frock
of pale pink and carried a basket of
pink roses.
Preceding the ceremony Miss
Kingley of Lockport sang "At Dawning
I Love You," the music merging
into "Lohengrin," rendered by Miss
Doris Meland at the piano as the
bridal party entered. The ceremony
Was performed before an arch and
banking of evergreen and pink and
white blossoms with overhanging
bell of white.
A four-course dinner followed with
covers laid for' eleven at the bride's
table.
Later, Mr. and Mr*. Meland left on
a motor trip through the Adirondacks.
The out-of-town guests included
Mr. and Mrs. Herb Holley, Mr. and
Mrs. Vatone and daughter of Lockport,
Miss Doris Seeley of Buffalo.
Among the pre-nuptlals was a dinner
party at the Hotel Kenmore,
Lockport, given by Mr. and Mrs. Holley,
a beach party given by friends
at Millers; and showers by Mrs.
Arthur Snowdon and Mrs. A. ???
Smith and the Misses Doris Seeley
and Erna Luckman.
