- Renee Young Obituary
Renee I. Young, age 89, of Grand Island, entered into heaven on July 18, 2025.
Renee was a gifted and nationally recognized china painter whose artistic talent was matched by her passion for knitting, sewing, furniture restoration, and home decorating. She shared her creativity generously with those around her and was admired for her many talents.
Alongside her husband, Renee played an active role in the family business, Young Bros. Builders Inc., contributing to its success with dedication and care.
Born in North Tonawanda to the late Frederick and Hildegard Mahl, Renee was the beloved wife of the late William Young, with whom she shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
She was the loving mother of Colleen (Mark) Kowzan, Pauline Niro, Bernadine (James) Toellner, and Cathleen Young; cherished grandmother of Jacqueline Kowzan, Ashley (Bryan) Trzaska, Victoria (James) Geblein, Michael (Angie) Kowzan, Michael (Jackie) Niro, Amanda (Scott) Gebhardt, Brittany Toellner, and Kristin (spouse, Alan Segall) Toellner; and proud great-grandmother of Alera, Erika, Tristan, and Caden.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, July 21st, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fretthold Funeral Home, Inc., 1241 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1135 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church in Renee's memory.
