WILSON — Michael A. Wendel, 46, of Wilson, NY, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus, while surrounded by his loving family. Mike grew up in the City of Tonawanda. He enjoyed stock car races, hunting, fishing and camping. Mr. Wendel had been employed by Chameleon Color Cards, Sterling Summer Inc. and recently at Allsafe Technologies (press operator) and Sweet Home High School (cleaner). He met the love of his life in March of 1991 and they were married on June 18, 1994. Mike was a loving and caring father. He enjoyed sharing memories of causing mischief with his brother, fishing and hunting stories, watching NASCAR and cooking shows and always giving a smile accompanied with a joke.
He is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Tammy (nee Potts) Wendel; two children, Nicole A. Wendel and Matthew J. Wendel. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard J. Wendel; and his father, James A. Wendel. Also survived by his mother, Patricia A. (nee Wolfe) Wendel of Mesa, AZ; sister, Shari (Stephen) Sprague of Mesa, AZ; and many loving family and friends.
The family will be present to receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young Street, Wilson (751-9631), followed by a funeral service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials in Michael's memory to his children, Nicole and Matthew Wendel, P.O. Box 536, Wilson, NY 14172.
