Hurley — George P. Ott, 78, of Lucas Ave., Hurley, NY, died Sunday morning, January 29, 2012, at Kingston Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 22, 1933 in Tonawanda, the son of late LaVerne and Louise Ott. He was the husband of the late Alice Szwec Ott, who died in January 2001.
He was a graduate of Tonawanda High School and in his early years worked as a truck driver for the family business, Ott Trucking Company. He then went to work for the Tonawanda Department of Public Works until his retirement.
He loved doing jigsaw puzzles, walking around his hometown of Tonawanda and talking to people. The highlight for him every year was the annual Tonawanda's Canal Fest.
He is survived by his loving family, a daughter, with whom he resided, Laura Piccoli and her husband, John; a son, Keith Ott; grandchildren, Amy Schwab, Chris Piccoli, Jessica Piccoli and Heather Piccoli, Sara Ott, Ashley Ott; a great-grandson, Seth; his sisters, Shirley Phillips and Susan Chasalow; a brother, Melvin Ott and a daughter-in-law, Lucy Ott; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Ott and a brother, Frank Ott.
Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. Graveside service will be held at Hurley Cemetery in the spring. Light a candle in memory of George at www.KeyserFuneralService.com.
