ANDRES - Charles Andres. 71.
formerly of 116 Fuller Ave.. Tonawanda.
died Tuesday (Aug. 8,
1961) in Alden, N.Y. after a long
illness. Born in Tonawanda. Mr.
Andres had resided in Tonawanda
for the greater part of his life,
and had served as an officer with
the Tonawanda Police Depart-
ment. He was appointed a patrol-
man on March 15, 1925, and re-
tired Jan. 1, 1947. Mr. Andres
was a member of Salem United
Church of Christ and the Brother-
hood of the church, and was also
a member of the Frontier Police
Club of Tonawanda. His wife, Vio-
let (nee White) died in December,
1950. Surviving are a brother,
Fred, of Chicago, Ill., and sev-
eral nieces and nephews. Friends
may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9
p.m. at the Hamp Funeral
Home, Inc., 37 Adam St., Tona-
wanda, where services will be
conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, the
Rev. Karl H. A. Rest officiating.
Burial will be in Elmlawn Ceme-
tery.
