  Niagara Gazette - 2/29/1936 TONAWANDA, Feb. 29.-Despondency said to have been caused by illness is given as the cause of the attempted suicide of Mrs. Violet Andres 48, years old, wife of Patrolman Charles Andres, at their home, 20 Park avenue. Shortly after midnight last night she Is alleged to have shot herself In the left breast just above the heart with a .32 calibre revolver belonging to her husband, which she secured from a. dresser drawer. Andres had just returned from work and was putting his car in the garage when he heard the shot and found his wife on the floor of the sitting room. He rushed her to the DeGraff Memorial hospital. At the hospital today her condition was reported as favorable and her recovery is expected unless complications develop.
