- Theodore L. Wirth, age 88 of the Village of Lewiston, NY, was called to his heavenly home on January 4, 2025 at his residence after a lengthy illness, while under the care of his loving family and Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on January 21, 1936, he was the son of John and Dorothy (Shook) Wirth. Ted served in the United States Navy from 1953-1957. He is a Korean War Veteran, and served on the USS Newport News. Ted was employed for 33 years at Ferro Corportation (Tam Ceramics), retiring in 1996. He enjoyed little league baseball, was a football coach, and a New York Yankees fan. Ted enjoyed building bird houses, Shirley's Country Crafts and "Ted's bird houses".Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Shirley (Andrews) Wirth; four children, Patricia (Ernest) Hoover, Theodore (Donna) Wirth Jr., Daniel (Carol) Wirth and Roger (Shelly) Wirth; a brother, Erle (dec'd Grace) Wirth; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, John Wirth; and sister, Joyce Banks.Visitation will be at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Tuesday (January 7) from 2-6 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Michael A. Keicher, on Wednesday (January at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow with military honors, in Acacia Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice.
