NORTH TONAWANDA -
Frederick J. Rhodes, 95. of
221 Wheatfield St., a former
Niagara County supervisor
and city alderman, died today
(April 22, 1961) at the Odd Fellows
Home, Lockport.
Born in Wolcottsville, Mr.
Rhodes resided jn this city
for 65 years. He lived at the
IOOF home for the last 11
years.
employed as a lever man by
Mr. Rhodes formerly was
the New York Central Rail-
road, retiring in 1933. He was
a member of Electric City
Lodge No. 663, IOOF, and of
the Order of Railroad Tele-
graphers.
A former tax collector in
the Town of Wheatfield (1895-
96) he served as 5th Ward
alderman from 1901-07 and as
supervisor from 1911-23.
His wife, Augusta Bennin,
died in 1934.
Surviving are four daugh-
ters, Mrs. Barbara Hoffmaster,
Akron, Ohio, Mrs. C. C. Perry
and Mrs. Alfred Jacobsen,
both of Orlando, Fla.; and
Mrs. Donald DeMarce, Palo
Alto, Calif.; five sons, Fre-
erick W. Rhodes, Kenmore,
Elmer C. Rhodes, Orlando,
Fla., Walter G. Rhodes, Wash-
ington, D. C., Edward H.
Rhodes, Beaumont, Tex., and
Harold R. Rhodes, this city;
a brother, Charles Rhodes,
North Rose, N.Y.; 13 grand-
children and 15 great grand-
children.
Services will be conducted
by Rev. Noel V. Blackenship
of Central Church of Christ
at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the
Wattengell Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Friedens
Cemetery.
