A very pretty informal wedding occurred
at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Geo. E. Mepsted of Clarendon, N. Y.,
Wednesday afternoon, September 24,
1913, when their only daughter, Miss
Laura E. Kimball, was united in marriage
to Mr. Charles Archer, elder son of
Mr. snd Mrs. James Archer, also of
Clarendon.
The ceremony, which was witnessed
by about 28 invited guests, including
the immediate relatives of the contracting
parties, and a few intimate friends,
was performed by Rev. L. H. Robinson
of Richfield Springs, N. Y., former pastor
of the Universalist church of Clarendon,
and a close friend of the bride
and groom.
Promptly at 3 o'clock the bridal
couple, following a beautifully played
selection from Hoffman, with Miss
Shirley Ventress at the organ, took
their places unattended under an arch
of evergreens and golden rod, with
which the room was tastefully decorated,
and responded to the ring service,
the same ring being used with which
the bride's parents were united nearly
24 years previous.
After the bride and groom had re
ceived the hearty congratulations and
good wishes of those present, a delicious
dinner was served, with Mrs.
Adelbert O. Mower as cateress, and
Miss Shirley L. Ventress and Miss
Olive A. Snyder as waitresses. The
dining room and bride's table, where
covers were laid for 14, were decorated
in shell-pink, green and white, asters
being the flowers used.
The bride was simply gowned In
white embroidered voile over white
Swiss, and her traveling costume was
of navy blue serge, with white hat and
gloves.
They left at 4:30 amid a shower of
rice and merriment for Lockport, .Niagara
Falls and Buffalo, returning after
a few days to reside at the home of
the groom in East Clarendon, which is
being repaired and redecorated for
their occupancy, and where they will
be at home to their friends after November
16.
The bride received many useful and
beautiful gifts at the wedding, including
a Iarge quantity of table silver
were, linen, bedding and other articles,
also many handsome pieces of linen at
a shower given by Mrs. Ruth Coleman
on Wednesday evening, September 17,
A china shower was also given in her
honor by Misses Grace A. Turner and
Shirley L. Ventress, at the home of the
former Friday evening, September 19,
which was most successful socially,
and at which the gifts to the guest of
honor were many and beautiful.
The best wishes of many friends go
with Mr. and Mrs. Archer, on their life
journey
