John J Arkyns, 58, of 122
Pullman Ave., a Town of Tona-
wanda resident 20 years, died
Tuesday at his home after an
apparent heart attack.
Born at Gardenville, Mr.
Arkyns started his 43 years of
service with the New York Cen-
tral Railroad at age 16. He was
chief clerk at the East Buffalo
yards.
Mr. Arkyns served in World
War II with the Army overseas.
Survivors include his widow,
the former Agnes C. Walter; a
son, Sp. 4 John M. Arkyns, now
in Vietnam; his mother, Mrs.
marion Lighty; two brothers,
James and George Arkyns, an d
a sister, Mrs. Robert Mercer.
Prayers will be said at 9:30
a.m. Saturday at the William A.
Rolling Funeral Home, Kenmore,
followed by Requiem Mass at 10
at St. Andrew's Church. Burial
will be in the Maplewood Ceme-
tery at Springville.
