- Dayton I. Garling, of Sanborn, NY, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015, in Niagara Hospice House, Lockport, NY. He was born in Middleport, NY, on January 19, 1928, the son of the late Dayton F. and Inez [Dewey] Garling.
Dayton served in the US ARMY, with the military police in Yokohana, Japan in 1946. After being discharged from the service he moved to Sanborn, NY and married Cherie [Stubbs] Taylor, where they lived for 52 years. Dayton was self employed with Nationwide Insurance Company for 30 years, before retiring.
He was an exempt member of the Sanborn Fire Company and enjoyed playing golf and landscaping his back yard.
Dayton is survived by his living wife Cherie, one daughter Jaclyn (Scott) Burdick of Sanborn, NY, two sons Joel (Debi) Taylor of Hilton, NY and Scott (Margaret) Taylor of Brockport, NY, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
His family will be present on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn, NY, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. R. P. Vogeler officiating.
Flowers are gratefully declined, Memorials may be made to Niagara Hospice or to the American Heart Association.
Interment with military honors in Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton, NY.
