well known Niagara area
sports figure, died today
(Feb; 26, 1963)
at his ho.me

49.

schools
here and was
a graduate of
T r o t t Vocat
i o n a l High
School;
He was an PLACEK .
outstanding ball player with
local teams in the 1930s, playing
with Sal Maglie, who has
retired.' from baseball, and
with the late Lou Kazial.
Mr. Placek was a life member,
of the Niagara Falls Echo
Society Inc., and a member
of Camp No. 211, Woodmen
of the World; the Polish Roman
Catholic Union of America,
Group No. 853, and the
Niagara Falls Gasoline Dealers
Association
Survivors are his wife,
Mrs. Sophie Augustyn Placek;
a daughter, Arlene Placek,
both, at home; two brothers,
Henry and Peter Placek, and
a sister, Mrs. Cecelia Goddsz,
all of this city; four nieces
and two nephews..
Funeral services be
held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday
at the Tubinis Funeral Home
and at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's
C h u r c h , Lewiston. Burial
will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
The rosary will be recited
at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at
the funeral home.
