- John 'Jack' Leis of Kodak, TN ( formerly of Lockport, NY, and Naples, FL), walked through the gates of Heaven to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 23rd, 2017. He was the son of John and Mary (Witkop) Leis, born February 2nd, 1930 in Lockport.
As a young adult, John was a farmer and then became a carpenter and later a general contractor. After moving to Naples, Florida, he continued working in construction as a carpenter and a mason, later he worked at Home Depot. After moving to Kodak, Tennessee, in 1999, he transferred to a east Knoxville area Home Depot, retiring in 2001 to build their new home. Being a talker and people person he returned to work at the Kodak Food City for six years where he was loved by all the children and parents that crossed paths with him. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Survived by his loving wife of 65 years this April 19th, Shirley (Zimmerman) Leis; and children, Cynthia (Delbert) Anderson, Duane Leis, Rodney (Stephanie) Leis, and Murray Leis. Also ten grandchildren; and seven, soon to be eight, great-grandchildren; sister, Elenor (John) Dunkelburger; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his eldest son, John Alan in 1998; his youngest son, Gerald Kent in 1966; and brothers, Robert (Patricia) Leis, and Gordon and his wife Catherine Leis.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
