INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Allan R. Weinheimer, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away April 22, 2012. Born December 3, 1926 to the late W.Dewey and Muriel T. Weinheimer, Al graduated from Lockport High School. He served in the Navy during WWII, including on the USS Mt. McKinley at the Bikini Atoll Atomic Bomb tests. Following his service he graduated from Purdue University, and taught high school math for 40 years. From 1964-1966, he served as a Ford Foundation Math Consultant in Ankara, Turkey, and received the Presidential Award for Excellence in teaching math in 1989. After his retirement in 1992, he loved to travel, volunteer and participate in various marathons.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; two children; eight grandchildren; sister, Helen "Sis" (late Burton) Hall and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Crown Hill Military Cemetery, Indianapolis.
