- Mary M. Platt entered into rest Friday, February 24, 2017 under Hospice Care. Born March 27, 1932 in Oshweken, Ontario Canada, daughter of Osborne Wm. and Catherine Hill Joseph. Mary and her family lived on the Six Nations Reservation until moving to Niagara Falls, New York in the early 1940's. She married Albert Platt November 11, 1950. Together they bought a farm in Appleton and started a family. She worked at Oldham Saw, retiring when the business relocated. One of her greatest joys was her children, grandchildren and extended family. She loved preparing delicious holiday meals and having all her family at the farm. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sketching and yard sailing. She is survived by her children, David (Tracy Mellott) Platt, Anne Platt, Michael (Susan) Platt, Cindy Bailey, Doug (Peg) Platt, Carrie (Daniel) Hogan, Kim (Andrew) Schuler and Matthew Platt, 25 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren with 2 on the way! Son in law Edward Markiewicz, Sister Louella Carter, Brother in law Paul (Linda) Platt and sister in law Ruth Platt, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, her son Steven Platt, Daughters Catherine Markiewicz and infants Christine and Lynne Platt. Family and friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC. 2670 Main St. Newfane, NY on THURSDAY from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9PM. A funeral service will be held on FRIDAY at 11AM in The Newfane United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Corwin Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at The Brookside 2990 Lockport-Olcott Rd. Newfane, NY. In lieu of flowers donations to Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
