- Cynthia D. Jones, age 60 of Lockport, NY, was called to her heavenly home on March 29, 2025 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, after a lengthy illness. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on May 29, 1964, she was the daughter of Ronald and Lydia (Smith) Fritz. Cindy was a graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School, and was employed as a receptionist at several medical offices. She attended The Chapel, in Getzville.Survivors include three children, Robert Bartel, Kristyne (Micah) Wiegand, and Laurel Bartel; her father Ronald; a brother, Thaddeus (Sherrie) Fritz; and two grandchildren, Orion and Corbin Bartel.She was predeceased by her mother.Her friends and family will remember her for her infectious laugh, easygoing spirit, and the way that she brought joy into the simpler moments. People just gravitated towards her- random strangers would strike up conversations with her, drawn in by her warmth and openness. She had a way of making everything more fun and comforting. Whether it was a small gathering, a mundane errand, or something you needed her help with, things were always better with her presence. She was also a wonderful mother and the first person her kids would call when they needed reassurance, perspective, or simply to feel understood. She had a sharp, playful sense of humor and loved sharing video clips that made her laugh out loud. She also had a soft spot for birds, squirrels, and chipmunks and would send photos and videos to her kids, just because they reminded her of something sweet or silly. Her family will be planning a memorial service at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601. Arrangements were with the DuBois Funeral Home, Wheatfield, NY.
