  North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 10/2/1951 Mrs. Magdalena Balling, 74. of 342 Grove St., fifty years a resi- dent of Tonawanda, died this morning in DeGraff Memorial Hospital after a short illness. Born in Germany, Mrs. Balling came to the United States when she was seven years old. She is the mother of four daugh ters and eight sons. Seven sons are associated with their brother Henry J. Balling, prominent contractor. She was the widow of the late Jacob Balling. Mrs. Balling was a member of St. Francis Church and the Altar and Rosary Societies of the church. Daughters surviving are Mrs. Spencer Carney, Mrs. Florence Karkow and Miss Gertrude Balling of the Tonawandas; Mrs. Frances Brown of Englewood, Fla. Her sons are M. Joseph, Henry J., Fred, Leo, Leonard, Walter, Norman and Jacob, all of the Tonawandas. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A prayer service will be conducted in the residence Friday at 9 a.m. and the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John A. Weismantel will sing a solemn high Requiem Mass at 9:30 in St, Francis Church. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
