- Gabriel P. "Gabe" DeMunda, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Gabe was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Umani) DeMunda.
Gabe moved to Niagara Falls as a child with his family and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University at Buffalo. He was employed for over 30 years as a Chemical Engineer at Carborundum Corporation in Niagara Falls, retiring in 2002 when the plant closed. Following retirement, Gabe worked for more than a decade as a valet at the Seneca Niagara Casino, a job he truly enjoyed.
Gabe was known for his gregarious personality—silly, fun-loving, and always ready to strike up a conversation. He looked forward to his monthly Friday poker games with friends, and was an avid ballroom dancer and passionate cook. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Rachel DeMunda and Anne (Carl Monnen) DeMunda-Monnen; grandchildren, Zachary DeMunda, Madelyn (Brandon) Zonner, Lilian Monnen, Hudson Monnen, and Hannah Monnen; his longtime companion of over 30 years, Martha Lyons; his brother, Richard (Anita) DeMunda; and his former wife and dear friend, Madeline (Barone) DeMunda. Gabe is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas (late Mary) DeMunda.
A Celebration of Gabe’s Life will be held at a future date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice at www.niagarahospice.org. Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
