- Robert 'Bob' H. Schuster, age 96, entered into rest peacefully on September 17, 2016 at his Wheatfield residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born in the Town of Wheatfield, NY, he was the son of the late Robert F. and Luella (Hagen) Schuster.
Bob is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving during WWII from 1942-1945, in the Guadalcanal, New Britain, and Peleliu campaigns. Bob met Marjorie 'Midge' E. Heumann, also a Marine, at Parris Island and were married June 23, 1945 on base. They returned to Western, NY and retired from the New York Telephone Company, after working 35 years. He was a Freemason, active member for 77 years with St. Johnsburg Fire Company, and their drum corps marching unit, Boy Scout Troop Master, and a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Shawnee.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years; son, Robert M. Schuster; brother, Albert Schuster; and sister, Claribel Ackerman. Survivors include two children, Heidi L. Schuster and David R. (Kathleen) Schuster; two grandchildren, Katelyn R. Schuster and Shannon M. (Charles) Madden III; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Madden and Charles Madden IV.
Friends may call at the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Friday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Ronald Lord, on FRIDAY at 4:00 PM following the first set of visitation. A private interment with the family will take place on Saturday in Acacia Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Niagara Hospice.
