Funeral services for Franklin J.
Bartenstein. 64, veteran officer of
the Lockport Police Department for
24 years who died Sunday morning
(Oct. 13. 1957) at Lockport Memorial
Hospital, will be held at
8 30 Wednesday morning at Kennedy
Funeral Home and at 9 at
St. John's Catholic Church.
Patrolman Bartenstein, 62 Chapel
St., who was admitted to the
hospital Thursday, died of a heart
attack.
A native of Lockport, Patrol-
Bartenstein appointed to
the Police Department Jan. 4, 1933.
He had previously served two
years on the Fire Department and
three on the Park Department.
Patrolman Bartenstein was born
in Lockport July 4, 1893, the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bartenstein.
He attended Lockport Senior
High School and St. Mary's Parochial
School.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hel-
en Gray Bartenstein; three daugh
ters, Miss Rosemary Bartenstein,
Mrs. Roger P. Rieger and Mrs.
Samuel Quagliano; two sons, La-
Verne and Robert C; and 10
grandchildren.
A veteran of World War I, he
was a member of B. Leo Dolan
Post 410, American Legion. He
was a member of St. John's
Church and the Hickory Club of
the Lockport Police Department.
Burial will be in St. Patrick's
Cemetery.
