Wedding vows exchanged
between Miss Karen Marie
Malloy and Robert Louis
Bates were received by the
Rev. August P. Kreutz, pastor
of Immanuel Lutheran
Church, Ridgewood, on Saturday
afternoon, before the
altar decorated with white
carnations and snapdragons.
The daughter of Mrs. Pauline
Malloy, 2761 West Ave.,
Newfane, was given in marriage
by her father, Edward
Malloy of Prospect St., Lockport,
to the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Bates, Dale
Road, Newfane.
Alencon lace studded with
pearls graced the bride's
gown of French taffeta which
was fashioned with a sweetheart
neckline, princess
sleeves, and floor length bouffant
skirt. A crown held her
silk illusion veil and she carried
chrysanthemums and orchids.
The maid of honor arid
bridesmaids wore street
length silk crepe dresses
styled with shawl collars and
flared skirts edged with fringes
with organza bow headpieces
and veils in matching colors.
Wearing blue ensembles
were the bridegroom's sister,
Miss Judy Bates of Newfane,
maid of honor, and Mrs. Darcy
Lampman, also of Newfane.
The bride's sister, Miss
Dorothy Jean Malloy, of Newfane
and Miss Donna Bates
of Buffalo were attired in pink.
Each carried matching colored
chrysnathemums.
The bridegroom's best
man was Dan Halo of Newfane.
Richard Loeffert, Dan
Helfrede and Charles Salter,
all of Newfane, seated wedding
guests.
An orchid corsage and orchid
- colored accessories
enhanced the white lace over
taffeta dress favored by the
bride's mother. Beige accessories
and a brown orchid accented
the green silk sheath
dress worn by the bridegroom's
mother.
Almost 300 guests attended
the wedding reception held
during the afternoon at Green
Acres, Burt, where a fourtiered
wedding cake flanked
by the attendants' bouquets
centered the bride's table.
For their wedding journey
to Rochester, the bride chose
a kelly green sheath dress
under a beige, fox furtrimmed
coat with beige accessories.
Mr. Bates and his wife plan
to reside at 2584 N. Main St.,
Newfane.
Both are graduates from
Newfane Central School. Mr.
Bates also served three years
in the U.S. Marine Corps.
