John Bates. 74-year-old bricklayer,
of 1621 South avenue, died in
Memorial hospital last evening. The
funeral will be held from the family
home at 2:30 p. m. Sunday, with
services at Zion Lutheran church
at 3 p. m., the Rev. Arthur H.
Schmoyer officiating. Burial will
be In Oakwood cemetery.
Mr, Bates, a native of Hanaver,
Ont., had lived here for the last
49 years. He was a member of the
bricklayers' union. Surviving him
are his wife, Mrs. Mary Bates; two
sons, George F. and J. Joseph
Bates; a daughter, Genevieve Bates,
and three grandchildren, Mary
Alice. Richard and Beverly Bates,
all of this city, and a sister, Mrs.
Pauline Webber, of Carsruhe, Ont.
