AKRON-Mark Raymond Bates
51. died at his home Tuesday. 26
Cedar at., following a lengthy illness.
He was confined to his bad
for the most of the past year
He was prominent in the meat
business for years, where his brother
Erwln Bates now operates a
butcher shop.
Mr. Bates was a member of Akron
Lodge. 212 IOOF and also of
the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Wilms
Jones Bates, two sons, Marshall of
Corfu and Techncial Sergt. Kenneth
Bates of the U. S. Army Air
Corps in service nearly 3 years in
the West Indies and who left for
New Orleans Friday after being
home on an emergency furlough
for 30 days, a daughter. Mrs. Leo
Heist of Alden, his mother, Mrs.
Julia E. Bates of Akron, three
brothers, George Everett Bates of
Clarence, Charles Burtis Bates of
Niagara Falls and Erwin Wesley
Bates of Akron, and two sisters,
Mrs. Michael Pflinger of Clarence
and Mrs. Earl Cummings 'of Akron.
Funeral services were conducted
Friday afternoon at his home and
at the Free Methodist Church with
the Rev. F. E. Robinson, pastor of
Calvary Baptist Church officiating.
Interment was in Evergreen
Lawn Cemetery.
