TONAWANDA-Frank X. Batt. a
well known resident of this city,
where- he-had. resided- the last 70
years, died this morning at his
home. 37 Clinton street. His death
following one week's Illness.
j Mr. Batt was a member of the
first Board of Public Works In
Tonawanda. created when the municipality
was incorporated as a city.
The appointment was on March 24.
1903. by Frank I. Alliger. Tonawanda's
first mayor, and was for
a term of five years.
Morn In Wllllamsville. N. Y.. 78
years ago. Mr. Batt came here at
the age of eight. He was the local
agent for the Beck Brewing company,
of Buffalo, for many years.
He was a member of St. Francis
church and Tonawanda Aerie, No.
1411. P. O. E.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lydia
Batt; a daughter, Beatrice Batt, at
home; three brothers, Casper of
Cleveland, Charles, of North Tona-
wanda, and Edward, of this city,
and a sister, Mrs. Helen Rathgaber,
of North Tonawanda.
Rites will be held Friday at 8:30
a.m. from the Hamp funeral home,
37 Adam street, and at 9 o'clock at
St. Francis church. The Rt. Rev.
Msgr. John A. Weismantel will of-
ficiate. Interment will be in Mt.
Olivet cemetery.
