John E. "Jack" Garbutt
Lockport Union-Sun & Journal
LOCKPORT - John E. "Jack" Garbutt went home to be with the Lord, July 8, 2014. Born in Lockport, NY, December 15, 1932, he was the son of Jay and Dorothy (Baudendistle) Garbutt.
Jack worked for Labors Union Local #91, retiring in 1994 after 40 years. An avid card player, he was the treasurer of the Lockport Euchre League for 20 years. He was also a member of the Turtle and Screwball Clubs. He loved all sports, always supporting the "Underdog". In his later years Jack found great enjoyment watching FOX news. Jack's greatest love was for his wife and family.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Penelope (Kowalski) Garbutt; five children, Michael (Eileen) Garbutt of Davie, FL, Rebecca (Douglas) Petti of Lockport, Scott (Tracey MacDonald) Garbutt of Middleport, Julie (Steve) Binkley of St. Petersburg, FL, and John Jay (Audra Smith) Garbutt of Lockport, NY; 14 grandchildren, Nicole, Chris, Denise, Chantel, James, Tara, Andrew, Noelle, John (JW), Tyler, Brianna, Felicia, Chad and Andrea; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Kayne; one sister, Joan (Gary) Halstead and predeceased by a brother, Robert (Sylvia) Garbutt and two nephews, G.Jay (Deborah) Halstead and Jeffrey Halstead.
Jack's greatest wish was to be a donor. At the age of 81 we thought impossible, but not so. We learned that they could use all kinds of "parts". Wish granted, "Thank you, Lord".
Jack's family would appreciate the loving support and prayers, from relatives and friends, on Saturday, July 12th, from 2 PM-? in their home, at 7233 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Lockport, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jack's memory to UNYTS Donate Life, 110 Broadway, Buffalo, NY 14203, would be appreciated.
