- Joseph A. “Joe” Frescino, of Grand Island, passed away on June 29, 2021. He was born September 15, 1934 in Niagara Falls, NY. and was the son of Vincenzo and Assunta (Sdao) Frescino. He attended Ferry Avenue Grade School, South Junior High School, and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1953.
He entered the US Army in Sept 1954 and completed Basic and Tank Training at Fort Knox, KY and was transferred to the 1st Armored Division, Company A at Fort Hood, TX. He attended training at Fort Belvoir, VA and returned to Fort Hood, TX where he was assigned to Battalion Headquarters, 1st Armored Division, and was then transferred to Fort Polk, LA. He was Honorably Discharged in September 1956. He was a Lifetime Member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He worked at the International Paper Company, the Gas Company, Tops Supermarket, and 27 years at Harrison Radiator, retiring at the age of 60.
Joe liked reading, completing the puzzles in the newspaper, cooking, gardening, planting lots of garlic, and monthly lunches with his childhood friends at the Como. He loved children and loved his family very very much.
He is survived by one brother, John (Dorothy) Frescino; one son Jeffrey (Jeanne) Frescino; grandsons John (Valeria) and Joseph (Rachel); granddaughters Jeanette (Cody) McElroy and Jessica (Isaac) Valarezo; great-grandchildren Giana, Jason, Aria, and Jolie; nephews Michael Fedak and Brian Talladay; nieces Lisa (Jim) Conner, Tracey Frescino and grand-niece Lilly Conner.
He was the brother of the late Palma (Robert) Talladay, Mary (Michael) Fedak, Diane Frescino, and Antonette (Michael) Narron; niece Deborah Fedak and grandniece Beth Ann
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 1 from 3 – 7 P.M. and Friday, July 2 from 10:00 – 11:15 A.M. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin Friday at 11:15 A.M. followed by Joseph’s Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.
