PETTIT-Edith A. (nee Beers),
of 69 Lake Ave., Lancaster,
formerly of Newfane, wife of
the late Bert Pettit, entered
into rest Sunday (Dec. 31, 1967)
at her late home. Mother of
Edna M. Pettit and Mrs. Lloyd
(Lois) Miller, both of Lancaster;
Charles of Port Charlotte,
Fla., Lawrence of Newfane and
Malcolm of Olcott; sister of
William H. Beers of Southern
Pines, N.C., and Royce L.
Beers of Birmingham, Mich.
also survived by 10 grandchildren,
14 great - grandchildren
and several nieces and nephews.

where the family will be present
from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Fu
neral services will be h e ld
Thursday, Jan. 4, 1968, at 2
p.m. Burial will be in Corwin
Cemetery. Memorials may be
made to the Newfane Methodist

NEWFANE - Mrs. Edith A.
Pettit, 88, formerly of this village
and widow of Bert Pettit,
died Sunday (Dec. 31, 1967) at
the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Lloyd (Lois) Miller of 69 Lake
Ave., Lancaster, after a twoweek
illness.
She was born Jan. 9, 1879 in
Newfane, the daughter of William
H. and Edna Mason Beers,
and had lived here until going
to live with her daughter three
years ago.
Mr. Pettit died in 1950.
She had been a member of
Newfane Methodist Church for
a longer time than any other
person. Mrs. Pettit also was a
member of the Loyal Seniors
group and Woman's Society of
Christian Service of the church,
of the WCTU and a former
member of the Newfane Tuesday
Club.
Surviving, besides Mrs. Miller,
are another daughter and
three sons, Miss Edna M. Pettit
of Lancaster, Charles Pettit
of Port Charlotte, Fla., Lawrence
Pettit of Newfane and
Malcolm Pettit of Olcott; two
brothers, William H. Beers of
Southern Pines, N.C., and
Royce L. Beers of Birmingham,
Mich.; also 10 grandchildren,
14 great - grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Rutland
- Corwin Funeral Home
Inc., 2670 Main St., Newfane
where the family will be present
from 2 to 4 and to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at
2 p.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in Corwin Cemetery.
