NEWFANE. Dec. 13 - Services
for Bert S. Pettlt, 74. who died
at his home. 11 Hillcrest A v e .
Tuesday, will be held at the home
Friday at 2 o'clock.
Born in the Town of Wilson in
1876, Mr. Pettit attended Wilson
Union and Brockport Normal
Schools and in 1901 acquired an
interest in Newfane Hardware
Company of which he was manager
until 1917.
Since then, he was a member of
the firm, Pettit-Harwood Chemical
Cold Storage and of Newfane Pre-
serving Company. For nine years
prior to his death, Mr. Pettit was
associated with the George W. Hax-
ton Produce Company.
Long active in church work, he
served as a trustee of Newfane
Methodist Church for 44 years and
was superintendent of the church
School for many years. Always
interested in community affairs,
mr. Petit served as school trustee
and was supervisor of the Town of
Newfane for two terms.
He was manager of one of the
early community baseball teams,
the Newfane Marines, and until the
past year was an enthusiastic
bowler in the Fruit Belt League.
Survivors are his wife, Edith
Beers Pettit; three sons, Charles,
Akron, O., Lawrence and Mal-
colm, Newfane; two daughters,
Edna Pettit and Mrs. Lloyd Mil-
ler, Lancaster; also eight grand-
children.
