CONSTABLEVILLE -
Mrs. Ruth B. Kraeger, 60,
West Main Street, wife of
Ernest P. Kraeger, died at
the Lewis County General
Hospital, Lowville, December
2, 1983. Mrs. Kraeger
had been hospitalized since
November 27.
Born at Potters Corners in
the Town of West Turin,
^August 11, 1923, she was a
daughter of Eugene H. and
Anna Tulley Bassett. Her
entire life was spent in the
vicinity of Constableville.
She graduated from
Constableville High School.
Her marriage to Ernest P.
Kraeger took place September
11, 1942 in Constableville.
For a time Mrs. Kraeger
was employed at Nelson's
Department Store and by
General Cable Corporation,
both in Rome. For several
years she was employed as a
bookkeeper at the Boonville
Agway store. Mrs. Kraeger
was last employed by Kraft
Foods Corporation in Lowville.
She retired due to ill
health. For a number of
years she held the office of
Registrar of Vital Statistics
for the Village of Constableville.
She was a member of St.
Mary's Church and its Altar
and Rosary Society.
Besides her husband, and
her mother, who lives in
West Leyden, Mrs. Kraeger
is survived by three sons,
Alan P. Kraeger, Norwich,
Eugene H. Kraeger, at
home, and Matthew R.
Kraeger, Westernville; five
grandchildren; two
brothers, Albert A. Bassett,
Newark, and James F.
Bassett, Port Leyden; three
sisters, Mrs. Charles (June)
Beha, West Leyden, and
Mrs. OrvUle (Eleanor)
Manzur in North Carolina. A
daughter, Carolyn, died
October 18, 1961; a brother,
Stanley Bassett, died in
1945, and another brother,
George Bassett, died in
1948.
Funeral services were
held December 5, 1983, at
the Trainor Funeral Home,
Boonville, and at St. Mary's
Church, where Rev. Adam
Zajdel, OFM Conv., pastor
of the church, officiated.
Interment was made in St.
Michaels Cemetery,
Mohawk Hill.
Those who served as pall
bearers at the funeral were:
Jerome Britton, Allen Earl,
Joseph Earl, Edwin Gillette,
James Duppert and Thomas
Kelly.
