NEWFANE — Mary M. (Behm) Prunty, age 66, of Corwin Station,Newfane, died Sunday, March 31 at Newfane Health Facility.She was born in Lockport on Nov.27, 1929. She married James Lewis Prunty on Feb. 16, 1957 in Columbia, S.C. Mrs. Prunty was a retail clerk at J.J. Newberry Co. and Lapson Surplus Store of Lockport from the late 1950s to '70s. She was a 1947 graduate of Lockport Senior High School.She loved flower gardening and enjoyed craft works. She was an avid bowler, participating in the Salad Bowl League at Allie Brandts. She had lived in Newfane for the past 25 years, previously in Lockport.She is survived by her husband,James "Bud" Prunty. She is the stepdaughter of Christine Behm of Lockport. Also surviving are siblings,Phyllis (Edwin) Lute of Lockport,John (Marilyn) Behm of Lockport,Shirley (Wayne) Beane of Appleton;several nieces and nephews.The family will be present to receive friends Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Sherrie Funeral Home, 6139 East Ave.,Newfane where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., the Rev. David Huels officiating.Interment will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or the InterCommunity Memorial Hospital of Newfane.
