Of Darien Center, NY. Beloved husband of 55 years to Teresa (Beiter) Burkhardt; dear father of Barbara (Daniel) Krazmien, James Jr. (Wendy) Burkhardt, Joseph Burkhardt, Thomas (Kandi) Burkhardt, Alice (Brandon) Calmes, Cathleen (Paul) Karpik and the late Norman Deinhardt; also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; father-in-law of the late Jake Midkiff; brother of the late Irving Burkhardt, late Phillip (late Elaine) Burkhardt, late Donald (late Barbara) Burkhardt, late John (late Penny) Burkhardt and the late Marguerite (late Charles) Landow. Family will be present to receive friends at the CHARLES MEYER FUNERAL HOME, 13228 Broadway, Alden, NY on Friday, August 22nd from 1-3 and 6-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Vincent Worship Site, 50 East Ave., Attica, NY on Saturday, August 23rd at 10 AM (please assemble at church). In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to OLV Charities/Human Services, Genesee County Hospice or the Darien Fire Co. Jim was an Our Lady of Good Counsel Church Trustee. He was a Life Member, and Exempt Fireman, past President and a Fire Police Captain for the Darien Fire Co. Jim also served on the Darien Town Board from 1976-1999 and the Zoning Board from 2004-2016.
