NORTH TONAWANDA — Helen K. (nee Belczak) Panek, of North Tonawanda, entered into eternal life Thursday, May 16, 2013, in her 90th year, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Poland, Mrs. Panek resided in North Tonawanda for the past 76 years. Helen and her husband, Mitchell, owned and operated Panek's Meat Market for 35 years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, playing Rummy, traveling and spending time with her family. Helen and Mitchell celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on July 11, 2012.
Beloved wife of 70 years to Mitchell Panek. Dearest mother of Richard (Joanne) Panek of Virginia, Jerome Panek of Colorado and Annette Panek. Proud and loving grandmother of Kerri (Jeremiah) Pechin, Tracy (Joseph) Scarpulla, Richard Panek, Celeste (Stephen) Bennett, Adrian (Neoldina) Panek, Marcus (Erin) Panek, Skylar Panek and Margaret, Arjay and Jean Romanowski and great-grandmother of 13 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Emil Belczak and Mary Wolak. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will be present to greet relatives and friends on SATURDAY, May 18 from 7-9 PM and SUNDAY, May 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the SABER FUNERAL HOME, 549 Oliver St., North Tonawanda (692-0271), where prayers will be offered on MONDAY at 9:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church at 9:30 AM. Entombment, Ascension Chapel Mausoleum, Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
