  Niagara Gazette - 2/21/1942 LOCKPORT-Word of the death of the Rev. William C. Bell. 69, retired African missionary, on Thursday at Clearmont, Calif., has been received by his brother, Jesse M. Bell, 129 Pine street. Mr. Bell was a native of Lockport and frequently spoke here on his African experlences- while-on-furloughr-He-retired three years ago because of ill health. Mr. Bell attended the old Lockport Union'school and graduated In 1897 from Cornell university. Shortly afterward he married Miss Lena Heller, of Ithaca, N. Y.. and the same year left with his wife as a missionary to West Central Africa. In 1932 he returned to this country. Besides his brother here, he Is survived by his wife, at home; a son, Dr. Nelson B. Bell, of San Francisco, and a daughter. Mrs. Florence Morris, of Los, Angeles.
