- Clara N. (Patterson) Fish, 86, of the Tuscarora Nation passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 after a brief illness surrounded by her family under the care of Niagara Hospice. Clara was born on February 7, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Percy and Eleanor (Chew) Patterson and named after her maternal grandmother.
Clara was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School. She and her husband, Lawrence W. Fish, met when Clara was 14. They married in 1954 and raised their family in the home they built together, celebrating 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2019.
Clara enjoyed hosting parties for her family for any and all occasions. Her sisters and family enjoyed visiting on the front porch when the weather was nice.
She always enjoyed walking for exercise, shopping and any time spent with family. She said that raising her family was the happiest time of her life. When her family was young, they spent many summers camping and making lifelong friends.
Clara is survived by her children: Loren (Marian) Fish, Sharon Kepp and Nadine (James) Printup, her grandchildren: Mandy, Katie, Jesse, Jill, Alissa, Karrie, Brittany, Dakotah and Shawna, her great-grandchildren: William, Edward, Jill & Graham’s baby-to-be August 2022, Michael, Luc, Larissa, Vincent, Anthony, Skylar, Patience, Grace, Jade, Gabriel, Azrael, Lillian McAleer, Jazlyn and Ethan and great-great grandchildren: Denahi, Dahosyn and Deagan. She was a special mom to Joanie Smith.
Also survived by her brother Percy ‘Pete’ (late Deanna) Patterson and sisters: Patricia Wegerski, Kathleen Wheatley, Sarah Kennedy and Prisciela Williams and sister-in-law Doris Patterson and two Aunts Norma Brascoupe and Ida Seeloff along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Clara was predeceased by her parents, her in-laws Fred and Lillian Fish, sister Beatrice (Ollie) Best and brothers, Chief Stuart, Myron and Norman Patterson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 24 at 2:00 PM at Tuscarora Nation House, 5226 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132 with food to follow. All are welcome to attend.
