- Lawrence Fish a lifelong resident of the Tuscarora Nation passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 after a full and adventurous life. He was 91 years old, born in Buffalo, NY on October 25, 1927, the son of the late Fred and Lillian (Henry) Fish.
Lawrence was a hard worker and took good care of his family. He was an iron worker with Local #9working on Lewiston Queenston Bridge, St. Mary's Hospital and many other local landmarks. He alsoran a junkyard with his son Fish's Auto for many years in the 1970's. Upon retirement, he made a roadtrip to Alaska with a friend. He married the former Clara Patterson on February 19, 1954 and this year they celebrated 65 yearstogether. They raised their family at Tuscarora and one of his happiest accomplishments was buildingtheir home, where he still resided and continued to chop his own wood for his woodstove. Lawrence had a quirky sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping,gardening, collecting old tractors and crosses, talking on the CB radio as "Super Chief" and still rodehis bike. A lifelong member of the Tuscarora Baptist Church, he was a brother in the Lord to the late Rev. R.Dean Baker. His favorite verses were Exodus 3:13 & 14 and Philippians 4:19. He was also alifelong friend and good neighbor to Jerry Jonathan enjoying their visits as well as many laughsand food shared together. In addition to his wife Clara, he is survived by his children Loren (Marian) Fish, Sharon (Jack)Kepp and Nadine (Jimmy) Printup, also 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3great-great grandchildren. He was the son-in-law of the late Percy and Eleanor Patterson. Lawrence very generously desired to donate his body to UB Medical School. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Tuscarora Baptist Church,2208 Mt. Hope Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. Walter A. Printup, III officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to Niagara Hospice.
