The altar of St. Gerard's Church, Buffalo, decorated
with baskets of white gladioli, was the setting for the wed-
ding of Miss Shirley Edith Bennett, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Norman 0. Bennett of 27 Leonhardt St., and Robert
John Schroeder, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Schroeder,
266 Olympic Ave., Buffalo. The Rev. Joseph J. Garin performed
the 10 a.m. Nuptial Mass July 17.
Given in marriage by her fa-
ther, the bride wore a ballerina
length gown of white tulle and
Chantilly lace with a fitted bodice
and bouffant skirt. Her fingertip
veil was caught to a coronet of
seed pearls and she carried a
prayer book covered with a spray
of white carnations and stephanotis.
The maid of honor, Miss Marie
Schroeder, and the bridesmaid,
Miss Violet Bennett, were dressed
in matching ballerina gowns of
Nile green and yellow organdy
over taffeta with wide-brimmed
straw hats. They carried baskets
of white and yellow Shasta daisies.
Donald Hart man attended the
bridegroom as the best man and
brothers of the bride, Norman and
Donald Bennett, were ushers.
For her daughter's wedding
Mrs. Bennett selected a dress of
grey lace over dusty pink taffeta
with white accessories and a
corsage of white carnations- The
bridegroom's mother c h o s e an
all aquamarine nylon taffeta and also
wore white accessories and a cor-
sage of white carnations.
After the ceremony, a wedding
breakfast for 50 guests was served
in the home of the bridegroom.
Later in the day the bridal party
attended a wedding dinner in the
Elks Club and then went to the
bride's home where en outdoor
reception was given for 100 guests
including Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Scheu and family of Chicago, Ill.,
and Mrs. Constance Corey and
Mrs. Madeline Robinson of Detroit,
Mich.
For traveling, the bride wore a
dove-grey suit with red accessories.
The couple now is honeymooning
through the Midwest and
will be at home at 402 Witmer
Rd. after Aug. 30.
Pre-nuptial s h o w e r s for the
bride were given by Mrs- Monica
Whitman, Mrs. Earl Bennett and
Miss Viola Bennett.
