- Frederick C. Hallgren, 94, of Amherst, NY, entered into rest October 25, 2022 in Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. Hallgren was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 7, 1928 to Axel and Gladys (Schaaf) Hallgren. Beloved husband of the late Florence (née Appleton) for 56 years. Dearest father of Linda (Craig) Gebhardt, James, Kenneth (Julie), and Carl (Janell) Hallgren. Loving grandfather of Scott (Amanda), Britt (Tara), Michael (Charlotte), Eric (Samantha), Christopher, Kelly (Keri), Grace (Drew), Matthew, Christian, and Nicholas. Great grandfather of Liam, Penelope, Robyn, Elliott, Ila, and Lacey. Survived by a brother, Dan (Shirley) Hallgren and a sister, Sue (Roger) Phillips. Also, survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Frederick graduated from Michigan Tech University and served in the US Army during the Korean War. As a devoted Christian, he was an active member of St. Martin Lutheran Church and sang in the choir. Friends may call Friday, November 4, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. at St. Martin Lutheran Church, 322 Old Falls Blvd., North Tonawanda, NY. Interment in White Chapel Memorial Park.
