TOWN OF NIAGARA — Dorothy E. Winchester, of the Town of Niagara, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2013, at her residence.
She was born in Warsaw, NY, on December 6, 1923, the daughter of the late Donald M. and Ruth E. (Fanning) Bennion.
Mrs. Winchester graduated from LaSalle High School. She was employed with Olin Matteson and Maxim's Department Store, before becoming a school bus driver with the Niagara Wheatfield School System, for over 25 years, before retiring in 1985.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, knitting, cooking and listening to country music. Mrs. Winchester was a member of the Niagara Falls Senior Citizens.
She was the wife of the late John L. Winchester, who died in September of 2005, and the late John A. Lester, who died in May of 1981.
Mrs. Winchester is survived by one son, Allan (Susan) Lester of North Tonawanda, NY; one daughter, Ruth (Bob) Mort of Niagara Falls, NY; five grandchildren, John (Mary Beth) Lester, Virginia (Jeff) Chancy, Robyn (Mike) McKinney, Renae Card and Russell Mort; eight great- grandchildren; numerous step-children, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews; close friend of Ben Mitchell and family and her dog, Greyson. She was the mother of the late Janine Lester; sister of the late Everett Bennion and Gladys Milliman.
The family will be present on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. James D. Henkel officiating. Memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or to the American Heart Association. Interment in Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton, NY.
