Youngstown, N. Y. —
Military and contracting officials
resumed today an in vest igation
into the collapse of scaffolding
and structural steel at the
Lake Ontario ordnance plant
which cost the lives of six workmen
and critically injured two
others.
The sixth fatality, Rubin Clarvit,
23, 1591 Fulton street, New
York City, was discovered in the
debris last night after records
showed him missing. Other victims
were Louis C. Chavis, Jr.,
Virgil Fiorentini, Delbert E.
Franklin and Thomas Pilato, all
of Niagara Falls, N. Y, and Lawrence
C. Bingham, Dunkirk, N. Y.
The mishap yesterday occurred
inside a water tank being
erected by the Pre-load Company
of Long Island City, according to
Lieut William L. Nicholl, Jr.,
Army Public Relations Officer at
the plant. He said that the reason
for the collapse still was undetermined.
