Frederick H. Benz, 81, a former
music writer for the Wurlitzer
Co., died yesterday in Lockport
after a long illness.
A native of Germany, Mr.
Benz was one of a group of men
who transposed music scores onto
the rolls that operated merrygo-
round organs and player pianos.
He had been a resident of North
Tonawanda 30 years before going
to Lockport 10 years ago. He
is survived by a son, a daugh-
ter and a grandson, all of North
Tonawanda.
Services are being arranged by
the Warrengel Funeral Home.

the husband of the late Mary Sing-
er Benz, and is survived by a son,
Raymond A., and a daughter Lo-
retto P. Benz, both of North Ton-
awanda, and a sister, Mrs. Harri-
ett Gibson of Meriden, Conn. One
grandson also survives. He was
a member of Ascension Church.

fel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St.,
where services will be at 8:30 p.m.
Thursday and at 9 a,.m. in Ascen-
sion Church, with the Rev. Fran-
cis J. Hunt officiating. Burial in
Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
