GENEVA - Leo P. Zimmer, 81, of 54
Maxwell Ave., died last night at his
home following a long illness.
Friends may call at the DeVaney and
Co. Funeral Home Wednesday from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday in the
Bond Funeral Home in Hammondsport
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m.
Friday in the Bond Funeral Home.
Burial will-be-in Pleasant Valley
Cemetery in Hammondsport Con-
tributions may be made to Geneva
General Hospital or to a favorite
charity.
Mr. Zimmer was born in Hammondsport
Oct. 1,1887. He was the son of
Philip G. and Margaret Miller Zimmer.
He graduated from Hammondsport
High School Class of 1909. On Nov. 4,
1009, he married Lucy Taylor of Hammondsport
of Taylor Wine family, who
died Sept. 20, 1960. They had one
daughter Rosalie Mendall who died in
September of 1964.
Mr. Zimmer was employed by NYS
Electric and Gas Corp. until his
retirement. He was a 50-year member of
the Steuben Lodge 112 F & AM in Bath.
He was a life member of the Geneva
Lodge of Elks, the Rod and Gun Club,
the Conservation Club, Twin City
Camera Club of Shortsville, the
Photographic Society of America and
the Retirement Association of the NYS
Electric and Gas Corp.
Mr. Zimmer had two hobbies,
photography and the raising of orchids.
For many years he had a large
greenhouse at his home. He also was a
bird lover and had many houses and
feeders for them. On Sept. 30, 1961, he
married Edna Benham Huested of
Geneva. :
Surviving are his wife Edna; one
granddaughter, Mrs. Jan M. Turner of
Alexandria, Va.; one sister, Harriet T.
Zimmer of Hammondsport; several
nieces and nephews
