MIDDLEPORT - In falling
health for more than a year. Mrs.
Winifred Bennett, 72, of 11 State;
St., widow of George S. Bennett,
former lumber dealer and contractor,
died Friday afternoon in Medina
Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Bennett was born In West
Shokan. but had lived In Middleport
since her marriage 46 years
ago. She was a member of Prin-
cess Chapter, Order of he Eastern
Star, and Middleport Methodist
Church.
Mr. Bennett was accidentally
drowned 17 years ago when his automobile
plunged into the Barge
Canal here. He was prominent in
Republican circles and had filed as
a candidate for county treasurer
the dav before his death.
Surviving are a son. Deputy
County Clerk Spencer H. Bennett,
of Middleport; a daughter. Mrs.
Beverly M. Smith, of Medina; a
granddaughter, Glorla Smith, of
Medina, and a sister, Mrs. Salisbury
M. Day, of Rochester.
Services win be held Monday
morning at 11 o'clock at the home.
Burial will be in Hartland Central
Cemetery.
