- GLENWOOD L. MAERTEN, age 93 of Wheatfield, NY, entered into rest peacefully on February 5, 2022, while at the Elderwood at Wheatfield facility. Born in North Tonawanda, NY on August 2, 1928; son of the late Leonard and Evelyn (Broker) Maerten. After serving his country as a Marine, he started working as a plumber, and in 1965 he formed his own plumbing contracting company, and worked until his retirement at the age of his mid 70's. Glenwood was a founding member of the Wheatfield Plumbing Board, and served as a plumbing inspector. Glenwood was a charter member of the Wheatfield Lion's Club. He enjoyed eating out, loved spending months during the winter, at his home in Cape Coral, Florida.He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary (nee Rehm) of 67 years; a brother, Kenneth Maerten; and sister, Dorothy Meyers.Survivors include a son, Daniel Maerten; daughter, Cheryl (Thomas) Encao; grandchildren, Corrine Bristol, Trevin Maerten, Daniel Encao, and Anthony (Becky) Encao; great-grandchildren, Leia Bristol, Kendyl Bristol, and Nickolas Encao; and many nieces and nephews.The visitation and services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are with the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield.
