  Niagara Gazette - 9/15/1947 Howard B. Witmer, 55, a descend- and of one of the area's oldest families, died today at his home, 1600 Cleveland avenue, after a long illness. He was a grandson of the late Christian Witmer who settled here in 1809 and who operated a flour mill for a number of years. Mr. Witmer is survived by a broth- er, Christian H., this city, and five sisters, Miss Edith M. Witmer, Miss Emma A. Witmer, both of this city, Mrs. Julia Hotchkiss, Miss Grace A. Witmer, both of Hamburg, and Dr. Frances M. Witmer, Leroy. The Rev. J. Burdette Charles will officiate at funeral services at the home Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be in Riverdale cem- etery.
