Mrs. Paul Berndt (nee Mrs. Haas) sends
the following to THE NEWS:
"Mrs. Haas lives on Niagara street, and
her second husband's name is not Paul
Barns, as was stated in the papers last
night, but Paul Berndt. Mrs Haas' (now
Mrs. Berndt) first husband was killed 16
months ago, and not 8,as stated last night.
He was not killed by a trolley; he was
killed by the little engine they wen using
too bnild the track, and Mrs. Haas did not
obtain a verdict against the Buffalo &
Niagara Falls Railway Co. for $1,500.
She has not got a cent yet, and her husband
waa only insured for $1,000 and not
$2,500, as the paper stated last night.
Tha witnesses at the wedding were:
Miss Minnie Haas, John Meyers, Miss
Carrie Rockenbrock, William Haaa, Mias
Christina Schultz, and Christ Martin.

Mrs. Johanna Berndt, 87, 382
Niagara St., wife of the late Paul
E. Berndt, died early today in the
home of her daughter, Mrs. John
Wendt, 444 1/2 Schenck St. Born
in the Town of Wheatfield, Mrs.
Berndt had lived in the Tonawandas
70 years and was a member
of Grace Lutheran Church
and the Ladies Aid Society of the
church. She is survived by two
daughters, Mrs. Wendt and Mrs.
Frank Geltz of the Tonawandas,
two sons, Edward Haas of Lockport
and Henry Berndt of North
Tonawanda, 13 grandchildren and
18 great grandchildren. Funeral
services will be Wednesday at
2:30 from the Hamp Funeral
Home, 37 Adam St., Rev. Hermann
Miller officiating. Burial
will be in city cemetery.
