BEWLEY-Elmore Wicker Bewley,
wife of the late Richard Bewley,
passed away at the City Hospital,
Friday morning. April I, 1961. She
leaves her sister Mrs. Janet Blan
ton of Richmond, Vs.. five step
children. George R. and Charles C.
Bewley of Lockport, Joseph H, Bewley
of Stafford. Arisona. Francis D.
Bewley and Mrs. Mildred Bewley
Brown of Barstow. Cal., eleven step
grandchildren, and one niece Betty
Blsnton of Richmond, Va, Friends
may can at her home. Lake Avenue,
where funeral services will be held
Sunday afternoon, April 8th at 2:30
o'clock. Interment In Cold Springs
Cemetery.

Last rites for Mrs. E. Elmore
Wicker Bewley, wife of the late
Richard Bewley and for many
years a teacher of dancing
in Lockport, will be held at 2:30
tomorrow at the family home,
Lake Avenue. The Rev. John S
Carrie, rector of Christ Episcopal
Church, will officiate and burial
will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
A native or Lockport who had
been active in social affairs and
who was respected by close friends
for her quiet philanthropies, Mrs.
Bewley died Friday at Lockport
City Hospital after a long illness.
She was the daughter of the late
Fred and Berenice Woodward
Wicker and was educated in Lockport
Public Schools and the Bettinger
Business Institute before
being employed by the former
Lockport Daily Journal and the
Thompson Milling Company In
Lockport and the Woodward Insurance
Agency In Niagara Falls.
Mrs. Bewley later opened a
dance studio in the Hodge Opera
House and continued it In the
Bewley Building alter the opera
house was destroyed by fire.
She also taught dancing at De-
Veaux School. Niagara Falls, and
conducted classes at the Lockport
YWCA until her retirement.
A member of the Zonta Club,
the New Century Club, Christ
Church and Lockport Chapter 73,
OES. Mrs. Bewley served as
worthy matron of the Eastern
Star Chapter in 1921.
