  North Tonawanda NY Evening News - 6/9/1965 BEYER - John L. Beyer Sr., 73, of 138 Clinton St., Tonawan- da, died Tuesday (June 8, 1965) at DeGraff Memorial Hospital af- ter a short illness. He was born in Tonawanda and had lived in Tonawanda all his life. Mr. Bey- er was a member of the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Socie- ty, from which he received acit- izenship award in 1954. He was known as "Mr. Democrat" of Tonawanda for many years. Mr. Beyer was mayor of Tonawanda for three terms and also was Erie County Supervisor for several terms. He is survived by his wife, Florence (nee Mackey) Beyer; one son, John L. Beyer Jr. of Amherst; one daughter, Mrs. James (Mary) Williams of California' also survived by five grandchildren. Friends may call at the Hilliard Funeral Home Inc., 147 Delaware St., Tonawan- da, starting Wednesday after- noon, June 9, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be there Friday, June 11, at 2 p.m. the Rev. Karl H. A. Rest will offi- ciate. Interment Elmlawn Ceme- tery.
