Stephen Norwich, age 45, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away unexpectedly at his work residence in Ovid, NY, on Sunday, November 9, 2014. He was born in Niagara Falls on April 21, 1969, the son of Marie (Chirumblo) Berds and Paul Norwich. Stephen was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. Stephen worked as a journeyman carpenter for Carpenters UBCJA Local 280.
After his military service, he went to the NYS Corrections Academy and worked as a Corrections Officer in several facilities throughout the state. He was most recently employed at Five Points Correction Facility in Romulus, NY, where he had recently been promoted to Sergeant. He had great love and respect for his fellow C.O. "Brothers", and spoke fondly of the bonds he had made throughout his life, in the lines of both duty to country and duty to upholding the law.
Outside of work, Stephen enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing, working on all of his various projects around the home, and spending time being best buddies with his granddaughter, Rachel.
