—Mrs. Ethel Caulkins Bilkey, wife
of Supervisor Geo. H. Bilkey, passed
away at her home in this village
Saturday morning, April 25, after, an
illness covering a period of more than
a year during which time she had
beeh a very patient sufferer. Mrs.
Bilkey was born in Lorraine, May 18
1892, the daughter of Everett N.
and Martha Moore Caulkins. She
had spent practically all of her life
here, being educated in the local
school, later attending Adams High
school, of which she was a graduate
with the class of 1918. From that
time until about two years ago she
taught school, teaching the greater
part of the time in our village school.
On June 28. 1916, she was married
to George Bilkey, one child being
born to this union, Arlene Jessie, who
is about a year and a half old. Mrs.
Bilkey's death is a distinct loss, not
only to her family but to the com-
munity in general, as she was a
very energetic worker in all the local
organizations to which she belonged.
She was a member of the Methodist
Episcopal church and Lorraine
Grange. The funeral was held from
her late home Monday afternoon at
2 o'clock. Rev. E. J. Lewis of Adams
officiating. The high esteem in which
she was held was evident from the
large number of relatives and friends
who gathered to pay their last re-
spects. The floral offerings were
numerous and beautiful. She was
laid to rest in Rural cemetery, Ad-
ams. Besides her husband and
daughter, Mrs. Bilkey is survived by
her father, E. N. Caulkins, and bro-
ther, Ross W. Caulkins, both of Lor-
raine.
