FRIENDSHIP-Donald C.
Wolfer, 91, of 23 Linwood Ave., died
Tuesday (October 28, 2003) at Olean
General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born April 9,1912, in Centerville,
NY, he was the son of William and
Nellie Billings Wolfer. On January 3,
1938, he married the former Rose E.
Coburn, who died January 16, 2001.
Mr. Wolfer had resided most of his
life in Friendship and had attended the
Centerville School disrrict. For several
years he was employed at various grape
juice factories in Westfield, N.Y.
For three years he was employed ar the
town of Centerville Highway Department
and for a short time, he worked ar
the CC. Camp in the area. For several
years, Mr. Wolfer was employed by
various dairy farms in the Centerville
area. In 1938, he came to Friendship
and for the next 41 years was employed
by the Allegany County Highway Department
where he was a truck driver
and for his last five years was af o r e -
man, retiring in 1976. Mr. Wolfer was
an avid Bingo player and enjoyed fishing.
He was a member of the Friendship
United Methodist Church, 62- year
life member of the Friendship Fire
Department and a social member of the
Friendship American Legion Post
#1168.
Surviving are son William W. (Susan)
Wolfer of Friendship; daughter
Donna Cooper of Friendship; eight
grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren;
brother Robert Wolfer of Obi; several
nieces and nephews; and very special
friend Shirley Shelly of Friendship.
Mr. Wolfer was predeceased by rwo
brothers, Fred Wolfer and Carl Wolfer,
and sister Millie Henry.
Friends called at the Treusdell Funeral
Home, Friendship from 2 to 4
p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on both Thursday
and Friday, where funeral services were
held Saturday (November 1, 2003) at
11 a.m. The Rev. Robert Schooley,
pastor of Friendship United Methodist
Church ofTiciared. Burial was in Mapie
Grove Cemetery, Friendship. Memorials
may be made to the Friendship
Fire Department or the Friendship
United Methodist Church.
